Pittsburgh (July 9, 2015) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, consulting, planning, technical and professional services, was recently ranked by the Pittsburgh Business Times as the ninth largest privately held company in the region based on 2014 revenues. The company moved up three slots since last year’s survey.
“Our company is on an aggressive growth trajectory, and we’re honored to rank among some of the biggest and most prominent brands in the Pittsburgh region,” said Kurt Bergman, CEO of Michael Baker International. “Michael Baker International’s roots are in western Pennsylvania, and we’re proud of our position as one of the world’s leading technical service firms, solving complex problems with life-cycle capabilities in engineering, consulting, strategic planning and more.”
In June, Michael Baker International expanded by opening a new office in downtown Pittsburgh in the BNY Mellon Center, located on Grant Street in the city’s central business district. The company has more than 700 employees in greater Pittsburgh between its corporate headquarters downtown and its regional offices in Coraopolis.
“Our expansion downtown comes at a time when Pittsburgh is experiencing another renaissance,” added Bergman. “The impressive pace of commercial and residential development is infusing energy into the region and getting our city noticed. We’re proud to be part of it all.”
The Pittsburgh Business Times published the results of its survey in late June. Combined, the 100 companies generated about $51 billion in 2014 revenue and employ more than 40,000 workers in the region.
