Pittsburgh (March 17, 2016) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today named Richard Baich as corporate fleet manager.
Baich will operate from the company’s Moon Township, Pa. office, and will oversee and ensure reliable operations of the entire nationwide fleet, comprised primarily of pickup trucks and both full-sized and crossover sport utility vehicles. He is responsible for reviewing all aspects of the Michael Baker fleet program and managing fleet replacements, fleet utilization, maintenance, a fuel program, fleet inventory, policy updates, decaling, safety, regulation compliance, and title and licensing.
“Managing a safe and well-maintained fleet is an integral part of an effective fleet program, which ensures our business operations run smoothly,” said Louis J. Levner, vice president of contracts and procurement at Michael Baker International. “Richard brings a broad range of fleet experience, including acquisition, disposal, maintenance and upfitting to help bolster our efforts.”
Fleet operations are a priority for Michael Baker and represent a significant expense as upgraded vehicles are often required to access many of the project worksites currently under development. To ensure that a safe and effective fleet is available across the company’s global footprint, Baich will work in conjunction with Donlen Corporation, which will continue to provide leasing and fleet support for Michael Baker.
“I am proud to join Michael Baker to shape the company’s fleet operations,” said Baich. “I will build on the company’s strategic approach to fleet management that positions the right vehicles with the right projects, while still maintaining fiscal responsibility.”
Baich brings more than 30 years of fleet management experience to his new role, having helped companies like the Armstrong Group of Companies, Pace Healthcare and Schwan Food Company reduce costs while improving processes.
