Michael Baker International Appoints Thomas Ritz, P.E., as Regional Bridge Practice Lead for the Firm's Mountain Region

Mr. Ritz will focus on the growth of the Bridge Practice in new markets and with new clients in the Mountain Region

Pittsburgh (December 10, 2018) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, announced that Thomas Ritz, P.E., has joined the firm as Vice President and Mountain Regional Bridge Practice Lead. In this role, Mr. Ritz leads the Region's efforts to align the firm's Bridge Practice's technical capabilities and processes and support quality standards for the delivery of services in the Company's core businesses. He also focuses on the growth of the Bridge Practice in new markets and with new clients. Mr. Ritz is based in the Denver office.

With nearly 28 years of experience as a transportation project engineer and manager spanning projects both large and small, Mr. Ritz dedicated much of his career to design-build projects that leverage the designer-contractor relationship to develop value-driven structural solutions.

"We are pleased to welcome Tom to the Company to continue the growth momentum of our Bridge Practice in the Mountain Region," said Jeff Kullman, P.E., Mountain Regional Director at Michael Baker. "Tom has a wealth of project experience in difficult mountainous terrain and brings his deep understanding of construction capabilities and environmental permitting, along with excellent skills in team building and management, project management and cost control procedures—among many other skills—to the service of our team and our clients."

Most recently, Mr. Ritz served as the Bridge Sector Leader, Senior Project Manager, for Stantec, where he focused much of his time on a 13.5-mile commuter rail line design-build project that included the design of the longest bridge in Colorado. Additionally, as a Project Manager and Senior Bridge Design Engineer at Jacobs Engineering for more than a decade, he specialized in bridge design, tunneling projects, monorail transit structures, roadway projects and environmental studies. He also has worked as a Bridge Design Engineer at Wilson & Company and Parsons Brinckerhoff, delivering solutions for clients in Colorado and California.

Mr. Ritz said: "After spending nearly 30 years in the industry, I look forward to continuing my career at Michael Baker and working with local and nationwide teams to provide innovative solutions to clients in the Mountain Region."

Mr. Ritz is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT).
