FHWA's National Highway Institute Recognizes Seven Michael Baker International Team Experts with Instructor of Excellence Awards

Pittsburgh (July 28, 2014) - Seven Michael Baker International transportation experts have been honored by the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) National Highway Institute (NHI) for excellence in training and have received the Instructor of Excellence Award for Fiscal Year 2013. Michael Baker recipients of the award include Tom Ryan, P.E., Ron Gardner, Eric Mann, P.E., John Wackerly, P.E., Guy Lang, P.E., Denny Baughman, P.E., and Jerry Ellerman of the Company’s Moon Township, PA office.

These prestigious awards were earned as a result of consistently receiving superior student ratings and evaluations from an NHI master trainer.  To earn this accolade, instructors must consistently achieve rankings of 4.5 or above (based on a 5-point scale) for all training course presentations.

“We truly value the subject matter expertise and level of excellence these award winning instructors deliver to the NHI training program,” said Thomas S. Elliott, Acting Director of Training Programs, National Highway Institute. “The instructors are a key part of the NHI team and we appreciate their dedication to ensuring that our participants have an enriching educational experience.”

Michael Baker International has supplied NHI with 20-30 expert instructors per year for the past 25 years through a joint contract.

“Michael Baker International is honored to support the NHI in their mission to meet the training needs of the transportation workforce,” said John Dietrick, P.E., S.E., National Practice Lead for Highways and Bridges. “We are proud of our experts and their dedication to teaching those who will foster progress in this important field and for the positive impact that they will undoubtedly have on the transportation industry.”
