Pittsburgh (November 24, 2014) - To support its expanding global reach and deepening local and regional client relationships, Michael Baker International today announced communications executive Beth M. Foley has joined the firm as Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective November 17, 2014. The firm, a leading global provider of engineering and integrated consulting services, recently implemented a strategy of local leadership for national and international markets and expanding worldwide practices in targeted markets.
Foley, who has spent the better part of the past 20 years leading strategic communications initiatives at some of the nation’s largest energy companies, reports to Chief Executive Officer Kurt Bergman and will oversee all corporate communications, marketing and advertising functions across Michael Baker International’s 90 global offices. She will be based out of the firm’s Moon Township/Pittsburgh office.
“As we continue to grow and better position ourselves globally, we recognized the need to add someone of Beth’s expertise to the executive management team,” said Bergman. “Her strengths as a leader, acumen as an educator and effectiveness as a top-level communicator add immediate value as we build on a 75-year history of expertise with a new strategy for global growth and customer satisfaction. Effective communications will play an important role in reaching these goals, and Beth’s appointment shows our commitment to success.”
Foley recently served as Senior Director, Corporate Communications for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and previously held communications leadership roles with GSI Commerce (now an eBay company), Radian International, PJM Interconnection, and Progress Energy, now known as Duke Energy. She also serves intermittently as an adjunct professor at the University of New York–Prague, as part of La Salle University’s Professional and Business Communication Master’s degree program.
“I was drawn to Michael Baker International because of its iconic, 75-year legacy coupled with an entrepreneurial approach to its future based on our expanding capabilities and communities we serve,” said Foley, whose expertise includes advertising, brand management, marketing, public relations, crisis communications and multicultural communications. “I look forward to working with the entire team in pursuit of our vision through effective communications.”
Foley holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Villanova University, a Master of Arts, Professional Communication from La Salle University, and a Bachelor of Arts, Mass Communication from Bloomsburg University.
