Baker Awarded Contract by Texas Department of Transportation

Round Rock, Texas (December 2, 2013) - Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker International, LLC (Baker), has been selected by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for a statewide Corridor Development Indefinite Deliverable contract with a maximum value of $25 million. Baker is one of five consultants competing for individual task order awards under the six-year term of the contract. It is expected that work will be performed on Interstate 35, Interstate 45, Interstate 10, Interstate 69, US 59, US 77, US 281, and other corridors to be determined.

“We are pleased with being selected for this important contract and are looking forward to assisting TxDOT in meeting its strategic transportation planning objectives across the State,” said Tim Smith, senior project manager in Baker’s Round Rock, Texas, office.  “This contract is the result of Baker’s successful decade-long environmental and planning work with the Department.”

The work to be performed consists of providing professional services for the corridor development process. The services may include, but are not limited to, the analysis of the existing transportation systems (roadway, bicycle and pedestrian, rail, ship), corridor feasibility analysis, analysis of current and future transportation needs, cost estimates, travel demand modeling and preliminary engineering for schematics for the preparation of environmental review documents in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or state environmental requirements for various transportation projects and corridors, the development of program and project implementation documents, and the development and use of various public outreach activities.
