The American Planning Association (APA) announced the winners of this year’s National Planning Awards, which honors planning efforts, initiatives and individuals working to make safer, stronger and more just communities for all. In the Federal Planning Division, within Category 3: Outstanding Area/Site Development Plan, Michael Baker was presented with an Honor Award, the top award, for its work on the West Point Clinton District Area Development Plan.
Michael Baker partnered with several contractors to provide adaptable and efficient facilities within a safe and secure environment for the Clinton District of the West Point campus. The planning process consisted of maintaining existing buildings, identifying future restoration projects and preserving the rich architectural style inherent in the historic campus. The Area Development Plan enhances the built environment and establishes a pedestrian-centric design that provides connected, accessible facilities and spaces with modern, reliable infrastructure. The overall project improves adjacencies of similar functions to increase the accessibility of various facilities and services, while increasing physical and functional connections to further improve efficiency and ease of movement.
