Pittsburgh (May 3, 2016) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, is partnering with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) to provide environmental services to military installations across the globe. The company is among a select group of firms that won the $500-milllion Architect-Engineer 2013 Environmental Services contract.
“Michael Baker’s global reach and local focus enable us to regularly partner with various branches of the military and other governmental agencies so that they can fulfill their important missions,” said Spencer Patterson, vice president and U.S. Air Force national market lead for Michael Baker International. “We will continue to bring our considerable experience to bear for the Air Force, this time by meeting their environmental planning needs.”
During the next five years, Michael Baker experts in environmental science, engineering, planning and geology will be able to propose and implement technical solutions that support the mission of the Air Force globally. This includes the design of environmental systems, environmental planning, the preparation of feasibility studies, air and water quality assessments, and the development of conservation programs.
Michael Baker is providing its services as part of a joint venture with MWH and Cardno.
The contract, which is already under way, is an extension of Michael Baker’s ongoing partnership with the Air Force.
In September, Michael Baker announced that AFCEC included the company in a group of firms for the Architect-Engineer 2013 Design and Construction Services contract. That agreement allows the company to compete for $950 million of engineering and design work on Air Force installations worldwide. Projects include comprehensive design and engineering plans for the modernization of operational facilities and the construction and renovation of military family housing.
